Gunmen abduct former Anambra lawmaker

Hon. Benson Nwawulu, a former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has been kidnapped by armed individuals.

According to reports, Nwawulu, a two-term member from Ogbaru Constituency 1 in the state legislature, was kidnapped on Sunday, July 31, 2022, in his home in Ogbaru.

According to a source who on August 3rd confirmed the kidnapping to journalists in Awka, the son of the former politician has asked certain current state assembly members who were Nwawulu’s colleagues for money.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the event to the Nigerian Tribune and stated that efforts to rescue him are well underway.
